- take rate vs. leakage. uber's cut can be half the fare. the tool: a simple page that takes your route and the uber quote, estimates the driver's share, and gives you one number to offer the driver off the app once they're at the curb. more than they'd make, less than you'd pay. settling direct is leakage. but the cut is what pays for vetting and safety. it only works as a free rider on uber's trust, so it never scales. the middleman is the price of trust.
- follow the stylist, not the salon. korean salons in the us charge $100 for a cut and $250+ for a perm, many times the price in korea. i want the quality, not the markup. some stylists leave for more customers and a better work dynamic and end up at cheap chains. most salons don't post prices, so flip it: start from chains known to be cheap (great clips, sport clips), list their stylists, and backtrack their work history for korean salons. same hands, chain price.
